KJ, Jasmine...don't let political correctness get in the way of the facts.

Outside of million dollar mansions and five star hotels it is pretty much the practice in mexico to put the used TP in a trash bin because the plumbing wont allow you to flush it.

  1. because the most skilled plumers  have left the country.

the wages in U.S.A. are higher thus the most experienced tend to look for greener pastures.

this situation is an important issue when it comes to talk about migration.

  2. Not sure where you get you info from, but it is not true.

  3. It really depends on WHERE in Mexico you are. In older, poorer areas, it can be bad. In newer more affluent areas it is just fine. Believe me, there are many places in Mexico you could not afford to live. There are a LOT of wealthy areas all over Mexico with homes well over 1 and 2 million dollars. Their plumbing is just fine.

  4. My house doesn't have great plumbing because the house isn't ours, it's an old house and the owners don't give a c**p about fixing the many, many problems.

However, houses in Mexico are far more better built than American houses and cost far less money. An average American house would tumble into pieces with a level 5 earthquake whereas you'd be surprised to see a crack in a typical mexican house. Most houses with plumbing problems are either old houses and/or the people that live in them can't be spending the cash in fixing a sink when there's far more important bills to pay.

  5. Thats a lame question.

But just so I can help you learn something new today, not all the areas in Mexico have bad plumbing. Some of the houses there could probably be worth way more than your whole family's homes put together.

In France, we think that most of the people in the US are ignorant. But I think that only people like you are the ones that bring down the rest.

In reply to your edit... The places that you've been at in Mexico were probably the common places that tourists like to go to and think that they're really in "deep Mexico". Therefore in your case, you're probably right. But in addition to that, I've never heard of a Mexican plumber in the time that I lived in the states. I always came across White American people to be my plumber.
