I live in the Pittsburgh area and was wondering why is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution from years 03-06 hard to find? I am looking to buy one but can't find them anywhere.

  1. Because of low production.

  2. Many owners of 03-06 Evo are keeping them because of the Evo X 's look, tuning potential, aluminum block, transmission(CVT on MR trim), weight, and it's slower than the Evo IX.  if you find one, it's probably an abused and neglected Evo.

  3. Mitsubishi doesn't make a whole a lot of them for some reason. Maybe that's how they get to sell them for $30,000 a piece. It's definitely a collectible among all tuner cars, so it's not the kinda car someone would buy and then get rid of.

  4. Low production volume and people that buy them generally keep them.

  5. yes like the other people said ow production. only 4000-6000 are shipped to the us each year.

  6. Evos are a lot more in demand in the west coast, particularly in California. So needless to say, tons of the Evo shipment from Japan make their way to California dealerships and eventually to Californian households. I've seen a number of for sale Evos in these areas. Not so much in the midwest or elsewhere, where the demand is low. It's amazing that people in the midwest seem to have not seen an Evo before. I drove my Evo from California to Michigan and people are staring at my car like I'm driving a weiner mobile. Lol! Even middle aged men driving their BMWs think that the Evo is just another boy racer car and were out to prove something until I showed them that the Evo is not another run of the mill boy racer car. It is in fact a serious street racer.

Keep looking. Eventually one will show up. You are going to meet stiff competition though when one finally shows up. Or do what I did. Came to California and bought me one.
