Why are Muslims so bad at Sport?

Look at the Olympics where Muslims hardly won a medal compared to the atheists and Christians.

  1. although this is true its not as well. Many countries in the middle east are undergoing war and poverty I dont think they focus much on funding their olympic teams as much as trying to provid food and shelter for their population. I know were I come from (lebanon) both christians and muslims played in the olympics before israel invaded and they did really well. But now the destruction israel left in our country distracted us from olympics and all that stuff. We want to make sure our country and people are safe and have the necessities before spending big time money on our olympic players practices.

I would put that down to Facilities, how many 50m swimming pools, velodromes and athletic stadiums do you see in India and Pakistan and that region, I don't think it has anything to do with race, just that they concentrate more on religion than sport, they are not bad at cricket though, better than us !

    france national football/soccer team- one of the most successful, and out of 11, 9 of the players are muslims. including zinedine zidane.

    there are many muslims who are great at all kinds of things. you are the one that sucks for bringing religions into profession.

Why are people saying that this is a racist question? first of all muslim is not a race its a religion. secondly even if he had asked "why are white people so bad at sports?" it still wouldnt be a racist question because he is not making a statement about anything - he is just asking a question.

    i'm not defending what is, after all, a pretty dumb question but theres no way that it is a racist one.

    If there are statistics that proves that sport people have significantly received less medals at the olympics then it might prove a trend and be explained by facts such as the ramadan "might affect their body performance"....

    This is a completely unreal example I am just showing how objectively a science study can works.

    Note for retards, please acknowledge that there are no mention of good or bad towards any "religion" in this comment but an objective attempt to understand a fact (they had less medals).

    But now I don't even know if they actually received less medals because maybe some athlete are intelligent and they keep their religion for themselves not for a public display bullshit.

  12. I think they have hmmm well, wars to put all their money into. Oh and most of us have better things to do. Maybe, just maybe? On the day of Judgement Allah will be asking us how long did we train to get a gold medal, erm I doubt that.

    And, they teams that US, GB, China.... put in had far more athletes.

    Also, how the heck do you know whos Muslim and who isn't? Is it written on out heads or summat?

  13. Sports has nothing to do with religion, but might got a lot to do with race and genes. It has most to do with training and hard working.

    You might ask the question the other way around.

    Why there are a lot of high sport European achievers start to adopt Islam? It became a phenomena in football

    Frank Ribbery, best player in France for 2007 and their second star in WC 2006 after Zidane adopted Islam.

    Nicolas Anelka, was at one stage the most expensive player in the world also adopted Islam and did Hajj.

    Van Persie, Duetch, playing in Arsenal and one of best players in English league.

    You got other bunch of players ............. who got everything in life, money, fame, other gender popularity .... but they decided to have more humble life with Islam

  16. muslims are not bad at sport. they take great pride in doing other more important things in their lives. praying, helping people, furthering their knowledge. many of your medicines an scientific research was achieved by muslims. sport is an extra, something which comes after family, work and religion. its just to pass time. it is not important.

    It's difficult to run in a full black burka you know. Wouldn't it look funny with a group of muslims in a race all wearing the full burka. How would you tell who won?

    The thing is that many Muslim nations didn't send well-trained female athletes that's why many Muslim women didn't win much medals but I don't really think being Muslim has anything to do with it.

    You can say that extremists and politics in some Muslim countries do interfere with sports, eg. Iraq, SA, Afghanistan, well its unfortunate.

  27. You may not actually know their religion based on their looks and their country. There are certainly blonde blue eyed americans who are Muslims. We come in all shapes, colours, and sizes. We are everywhere!!!!!  

  28. cos the non Muslims do not allow us to compete professionally, it is dominated by white skin people who run the show.

    Racism is everywhere and it will not be blotted out, the white man knows that he is a minority in the world and he must keep stern hand on the rest of the world.

    I would say that Muslims in general put sport way down in the priorities list.

    The purpose of life for Muslims is to Worship Allah (swt), not to win Gold Medals!

    You will find that a lot of the Muslim sports people mentioned here aren't particularly practicing.

    Why don't you ask about Muslim Doctors, Scientists, Engineers Etc?

    It seems the Muslims have the Brains whilst the Atheists have the Brawn hey?

    Maybe thats why they are Atheists in the first place!
