Why are NFL players being suspended for a violation of the league's personal conduct policy?

for merely getting arrested (e.g. Brandon Marshal). Perhaps, they are not guilty, but the commish isn't giving the players the opportunites to defend themselves in court. Perhaps it was the police officer who has the conduct problem, who knows. The facts are not allowed to come out before punishment is being handed down. Why doesn't the player's union step in and put a stop to this premature punishment????

  1. Well in Marshall's case he's been arrested 3 times this past year, one for DUI, one for Beating his girlfriend, and for driving without a valid license or insurance. Let's face it, to play in the NFL is a privledge and you got to keep your nose clean.

  2. OMG thank you so much for asking this question!!!!  I am so tired of this policy.  To answer your question, I think Roger Goodell thinks that he is cleaning up the image of the league by doing this.  He feels like every person that gets arrested did something wrong.  What really burns me up is most of these guys are not getting charged with anything or the charges are getting dropped and they are still in trouble with the league afterward.  It's ironic that Goodell is trying to teach NFL players that they are not above the law.  Somehow; however, Goodell is above the law by still handing out punishment even when the police and the court rooms are not.

Think about the position we are putting some of these players in.  Anybody who wants to do a guy harm now can make a bogus claim against an NFL superstar and before the courts can even prove anything the guy is out of the league.  That's a company I want to work for.

  3. Its uneven and obviously biased, though Chris Henry may be a bad guy but he hasn't been convicted of anything since he was kicked out before.  He got arrested, then fired, then freed and released, then suspended 4 games.  Pac Man Adams shows that if the right guy with power and money is behind you, you're on the road to rehabilitation.  You have just your family or and agent only without the owner, you're toast.  Watch out players will leave to go play NFL Europe, less rigid, money is worth more, imagine Tom Brady leaving  that would be Goddells last day at work.

  4. Playing pro football is an honor, a privilege. Just ask the players that were enshrined in Canton this past weekend.

Toe the line, don't be an idiot. You are paid multi-millions to play the game. Be a professional, if you don't want to be a professional, many other guys will and can take your place.

Grow up, be a football player, not a gang banger or a thug.

Players union has no testicular or intestinal fortitude to stop the players from being as*holes.
