I'm looking to buy some good chocolates for my girlfriend, when I'm told that palmer chocolates are cheap. Does anyone know why?

  1. If you have a local chocolate store that is ideal. Or find your way to a European grocery store (or World Market).

Easy to find premium chocolate brands are Godiva (http://www.godiva.com) & my favorite (although very pricey) Vosges (http://www.vosgeschocolate.com).  A lot of malls have a Godiva store.

  2. they reallly are and don't taste good. it is not a high quality chocolate and is priced cheaply. go for godiva, or dove if you want to buy from a grocery store, or try something from a specialty chocolatier...if she's a chocolate lover she'll thank you for it! :)

  3. dude if it makes you feel better, i'm a girl and i love palmer's chocolate disks that have peanut butter on one side and chocolate on the other.

their plain chocolate, however, ...not so yumm. you can taste a difference. i second the reccomendation to buy lindt chocolate, they're cheap ! lindt lindor truffles = my favorite in the whole world.

  4. never even heard of the brand...

  5. They don't use premium chocolate or other ingredients...Stovers, Hershey, etc. uses the better ingredients.

  6. It is cheaper..as it is more waxy tasting.

Those kinds of chocolates usually burn my throat!

If you want good chocolate..go to a LOCAL chocolate shop where they make the chocolates right there in the store.

You pay more..but it is worth it!

If you dont have one of those..go with Godiva or something.

  7. never heard of Palmer's, but they might be the same poor quality as See's...if they have that horrible hard shell, they are probably coated with paraffin!  ... Lindt makes nice bars, but Godiva would be wonderful!  Rocky Mountain Fudge Company makes good chocolate too.  It should melt in your mouth; you shouldn't have to crunch through a hard outer shell.....

  8. b/c they taste like cardboard and dont cost alot.

  9. if you want to get her good chocolates..go with lindt..its affordable..but yummy!

palmer are cheap..its the chocolate that you get a huge bag for a dollar...the amount of actual cocoa they use is low...meaning less chocolate flavor..and more substitutes...

  10. Palmer Chocolates were featured on The FoodNetwork some weeks back and are an old company that has been making chocolate for decades.  Palmer is an "every persons" chocolate and the prices are deliberately kept low on these no-frills candies.  They lack some of the richness of the more gourmet varieties but still taste good.  For an Easter treat, I'd stick with See's myself.
