Why are Polish people despised by Western Europeans?

They aren't. the only reason The British have any gripe against them is that half of them moved over here. But they are pretty well behaved as immigrant groups go, so we are okay with them.

Can't speak for the Germans though.

May be because they're neither here nor there! It used to be said that the Poles have only two friends: the French and God and both of them are far away.
