Why are Portsmouth looking to delay winding up order?

Obviously, to avoid going into administration and all that entails. But what do they hope will change if they can delay the winding up order?

According to a statement released by Portsmouth on February 4th: “The club will now apply to HMRC to adjourn next week's winding-up hearing to allow time for the club to be stabilised and new owners found.”
