Question:

Why are Republicans are worried about Lousiana this time around? ?

It's Election Time! And the Governor is a Republican.

Maybe long-suffering 'Katrina victims' will finally get some efficient and timely government help now?

It takes a second disaster to get effective help to first disaster victims?

(But now it's 'our baby'?) It would be laughable, if it weren't so tragic.

Makes one sick to the stomach, doesn't it?

  1. Why should the government bail out everyone who chooses to live in an area that is

    a) below sea level

    &

    b) very prone to bad hurricanes and flooding?

There are plenty of government programs out there that would help you relocate to an area that isn't a death trap.  People need some common sense.

  2. Probably because they do't want to waste more money on the same fools who still haven't learned from Katrina.  Notice once again they've had about a week notice and STILL you don't see people trying to leave.  It isn't the governments responsibility it's the individuals. They want to drown again so be it, but I don't think we should do anything for those who choose, once again, to stay.

Why does everyone center on Louisiana more, when it was MISSISSIPPI  that was hit the hardest last time?  It was the demoncrats running the state that stole fed money going to the levees for their own person agendas.  I can honestly say if the citizens of the state decide to stay and stick it out and yet get injured, whine, cry, complain, I say you deserved it.  I don't want to waste one more dime on free housing for those who STILL HAVE NOT TRIED TO STAND ON THEIR OWN AND SUPPORT THEMSELVES.  I can go on an on about how I feel it's the LA resident's own faults and give PROOF, but libs will never believe it.  Sick sick people.

  3. Your confused.  The People are more worried because you learn from your mistakes.  Katrina was not handled well by FEMA but they are all over it this time.  How about an At-a-boy instead of snide remarks? WHat a Liberal crock of s***

  4. they are worried how it will look if they are on the stump while Louisiana drowns

  5. Because they failed that state and so many others along the Gulf Coast last time.

And you're right.  If it weren't for an election year, they would care less about Louisiana.

So while Bush and McCain celebrated McCain's birthday, a city drowned.

  6. You have got to be kidding me. Katrina victims have got more than necessary. It's more of the same where people want to take advantage of the situation. If you feel so bad for them, by all means go down there and volunteer your money and time. They'll spend it, and then complain some more. It's not the Governments fault that a huge Hurricane came and broke the dykes. It's not the Governments fault that instead of helping one another, large amounts of residents decided to start raping, murdering, looting and gang banging in the streets. It's not the Governments fault that the elected officials of New Orleans didn't respond to the situation the right way. Don't blame the Federal Government, blame the state Government.

  7. and you would really be complaining if they ignored the storm----can't win for losing can they.

  8. They're not

Republican callers to C-span overwhelmingly felt the republicans should go on with their convention as if nothing is happening, why should a hurricane ruin their convention they asked and there is nothing they can do to stop it.

They also said all the people in New Orleans were on welfare (but started by saying "i'm not a racist or anything") and that if they weren't on welfare they would have cars to get out.l

  9. To make themselves appear to care about the people of America.

Millions still can't afford health care and have you people seen some of your inner city schools? DISGUSTING!

  10. Ray Nagin is still the mayor and will probably eff it up.

  11. When Katrina hit New Orleans had a democrat mayor and a democrat governor and a republican President.  Some how you libs always try to make everything that happened, including the storm, the President's fault.  The democrat mayor is evacuating the city this time around, he should have done that the last time around.  The governor, now a republican, has already issued an emergency proclamation so that federal aid can be ready and near-by for the storm that is coming.  The federal emergency team learned a lot from Katrina and is now more prepared for the kind of damage that may happen.  But now you act as though the republicans planned this storm to coincide with their convention. Oh, I forgot, Bush does control the weather.

  12. Listening to CNN now, and this is TRAGIC for the GOP simply because it upstages their convention.

  13. Yep, and now Bush is canceling his trip to the convention on Monday to hang around Gustav.  Guess he won't be eating birthday cake with John McCain like he did the first time around.  How tragic and embarrassing all at the same time.  Do they think we are stupid or something?  This is all about stopping the political bleeding, not because they give a rats butt about the citizens of Louisiana.

  14. I think you answered the question in your first sentence.

    It's election time.

They don't want to have another clusterflop on their hands during election, so they have to put up a display of concern.

  15. It is happening in a election cycle. It does not show that they care about people making less than 5 million per year. Their definition of middle class. It does show that when they think that middle class suffering could affect them they care.

  16. I was worried about Louisiana the first time. And am always worried for those poor people who choose to live near where bad weather happens.

  17. They are concerned that the news casts will split their time between the storm and the convention. But now they are planning to use the convention to show they are the party with heart...unlike with Katrina when they were the party of indifference. People down there STILL need help but where have the Republicans been since the Katrina? And it's hurricane season? Why are they so shortsighted to plan a convention then in the first place?

  18. EVERYTHING IS THE PRESIDENTS FAULT OMG. CONGRESS DOES NOTHING. OR THE MAYOR. ITS ALL BUSH OMGOMOMGOMGOMOM

    INSERT MORE LIBERAL BULLSHIT HERE.

  19. Because they need to keep their image sparkling for the 2008 elections and Katrina provided some of the worst tarnish for their image that can be imagined.

  20. Why are they worried?  Because 1. if they s***w up and get another Katina, any hope of winning will be lost.  And 2. they'll actually be in the area this time.

  21. "Buttface" and "metroguy" have hit it right on the nose.

It makes me sick to see the dems exploiting others' tragedies. I guess the rant would be all about "we learned our lesson last time" if LA had had a dem governor when Katrina hit, huh? Grow up. Why is the government supposed to be responsible for people who choose to live in disaster-prone areas? (Much the same as why should workers pay for those who won't) Yes, we should all help out of compassion, but not out of requirement.

P.S. the only thing I (a repub.) am worried about are the people down there.

Janice- I forgot about that, thanks
