  1. well aparently now all of the border countries are in danger. So yes Nato plays a part, but this is Russia plain and simple....I have a friend in Estonia and they are feeling threats from Russia. Because of Russia's pure storming force....they have a lot of Young, young soldiers.

  2. God knows. Methinks they are feeling all misty eyed and nostalgic for the glory days of Soviet Russia and decided to make a comeback.

    Maybe they were just bored.

  3. Because Georgia is in Russia's backyard just as Cuba is in America's backyard. Russia fears interference by the West in a close neighbour. An extremely important oil pipeline jointly owned by US & UK companies runs through Georgia and carries oil from the Caspian to the Black Sea. It reduces reliance on Russian oil. There are a number of other Caspian oil pipelines at the drawing board stage and these will further irritate the Russians.

  4. Just imagine the reaction of the US if Mexico joined a defense treaty with the Russians, and Canada started to install Russian missiles  Even if they assured you it was nothing to do with any threat to you, would you believe it?

  5. Georgia attacked South Ossetia, which South Ossetia is disputed land in Georgia that is also an ally of Russia. Russia pretty much came to South Ossetia aid, which in the process decided to make an example of Georgia and flex its muscles to the U.S. that it isn't bullshitting. Russia now is threatening to attack Poland because during the turmoil the U.S. and Poland all of a sudden agreed on installing the missile defense shield radar in Poland. It is pretty much a guarantee Russia is going to bomb the radar thats going to be installed due the missile defense shield being a direct threat to Russia's security.

  6. Russia has complete distrust of the west since the Napoleonic era. They have always been threatened to be invaded first by France, then by Germany, and the US also tried to overthrow their government. Now that they are not communists anymore, they see the US and Georgia trying to get the control of all the oil in the south, while the US has also placed missiles in Poland to discourage Russia from taking any extreme action. On the other hand Moscow is one of the richest cities of the world, and they have the potentials to become an economic power, to start thriving again, to stop emigration to the west, and to increase their birth rate. They are feeling oppressed since centuries, and there are very strong movements that encourage an expansionist campaign. But they learned from the Americans that attacks must be indirect and subliminal, like the one in Georgia which is described as a peace action.
