Why are Sarah Palin's Christianity such an issue?

especially since Obama and Biden are also Christians?

Is this just an example of people using religion solely because someone is a member of a different political party?

Or is Catholicism and Black Liberation Theology OK but being a Christian not affiliated with a specific denomination is the problem?

  1. It's an issue because only Palin acutally follows her Christian values.

  2. Pentacostals are fundamentalist, and fundamentalist are seen as

extreme for many in this country.

Does Mrs Palin speak in tongues?

I personally prefer politicans that have a more mainsteam religion that is open minded and accepts people just as they are... just like I believe God does !

You know something is wrong when people like James Dobson are jumping up and down about this choice of a VP.

  3. You answered it yourself: being a Christian not affiliated with a specific denomination IS the problem.

Peter would be proud of you.

  4. *sigh*

Why is religion an issue AT ALL! I thought we had a separation of church and state.

  5. Faith isn't an issue until you start governing by it.  This is a nation of people from many faiths, not just Christianity.  That is why separation of church and state is important.  I will take issue with a candidate cramming their religion down my throat.

  6. You can be a Christian without being an extremist.  I don't want some fundamentalist anything in power.

  7. Brian you've here long enough to know that the first thing that liberals do is to mock someones beliefs. "guns and religion and antipathy and so forth". Next thing they"ll be saying is that she participates in old roman sacrifices. Liberals view faith as a weakness, to be exploited at all cost. In reality, it makes us consolidate and steadfast.

  8. I think it is mostly politics. Because Palin is a republican, she like other republicans are always going to be questioned more about everything from religion to how many houses they own. It should be well known that the republicans have always been questioned more and have always been held to a higher standard than democrats or other parties. When it comes to voting, I'll vote for the people that are held to the higher standard any day.

  9. It's not.  Just because she is Pentecostal and rolls around on the floor speaking in tongues I'm cool with it.

  10. A lot of folks are concerned with the role that Christian Identity Theology plays in Republican Politics and by extension how the country is run.  Consider that McCain moved from mainstream membership in the Episcopalian church to embracing Christian Identity theology by seeking out the likes of Hagee and Parsley. This is a legitimate concern not some bogus issue like is a candidate a Muslim!!

  11. I think the Liberals are just scrambling. I think Palin was a real dagger in their hopes for election victory. They don't have much they can assail these two on... They try to link them to Bush, but they are 2 different people, not to mention Obama was in the Senate during Bush's presidency just like McCain was... It takes the whole group to pass/fail something, not just 1 senator. They can't touch her experience because well Obama has none. So they reach for religion. It's clear Obama has some underlying issues with his religion and that of the country.

"Conservatives cling to their guns and religion in hard times"

    Wasn't that Obama?
