Why are Singaporeans never satisfied with their government?

I was walking around Singapore and have been talking to the locals there but everybody seems to be complaining about the inflation rates as well as the standard of living which is not quite satisfactory to them. They simply don't feel happy there. They felt like the government is taking money out of their pockets all the time. What do other Singaporeans think about this?

I personally find this really sad especially for a country who has prospered so much but still has citizens that aren't very jovial.I specifically like how the government has broken the racial barriers between the races in the country.Everyone is going along with each other and there seems to be no tension between them. This is very rare if it's compared to the outside world.

  4. Oh please. People in all countries complain about their governments to some extent. Singaporeans have things going very well for them, so if you read the type of issues they have in the newspaper you'll notice that the problems with the Singapore government and society are trivial compared to other developed countries. Singaporeans complain for the sake of it, and the complaining isn't serious or passionate.

UK newspapers are writing stories about the sharp increase in stabbings among its youths. Singaporean newspapers are worried about young people's anti-social behaviour like jaywalking. It's sterile, but it's better than sterilising knife wounds.

  5. i dont know much about the government there, but i noticed the same thing, no one ever smiled or talked. personally i think this is because they are supressed (hugely) it is illegal to chew gum there, n theres a massive fine for just about everything that isnt conmformist to the highest degree, theres no room for personality...mind u i only spent a few days there lol

  6. Tight living conditions are inherently unstable...and although they are very successful it depends on a lot of importation to make it work. They need to be distrustful since they are so urbanized they cannot sustain themselves very long without good infrastructure and government.

Yeah, its too bad they cannot enjoy their success but it is fragile....the "ants" know it!
