Why is the word Gentlemen used in this forum before the questions that demean and insult women the most?

  1. They do, with paper money.

  2. More likely it's for men to enjoy

  3. Advertisement purposes.  When the businesses advertise what kind of establishment they have, they want to specify who their target audience are without making it sound vulgar and child appropriate.

By using the word "Gentlemen" it not only hints to adults what type of things go on, while not giving any "secrets" away to the little kids that might be listening, but it also gives it a sense of "classiness".

Some horny men might want to go to a place that advertises "Strip Bar" which connotates a sleazy environment, or a "Gentlemen's Club" which implies a sense of style.

  4. Good question!

It's a supposed hierarchy and hypocrisy - you know. They can look at these women, but are mortified if the women they know show too much of a sexual interest in them or wore scanty clothes.

  5. It's called a euphemism.

  6. because the club exists mainly to cater to a more mature male clientele.

Stricter rules of behavior and dress set it apart from strip clubs.

But as for your second question it is simply blow back. Someone had a bad day or a bad month or so , so they try to find the reason why and vent about it.

Girls do it all the time and it is considered "humor" and "venting".

The moment guys do it, it is "hate" and "sexism".

So in short until society acknowledges that hypocrisy I see no point in the whole omg ur right kind of thing because I don't really care.

  7. So I have been to these establishments a couple times. All of them being bachelor parties. In all three or four (cant remember as its been some time) occasions it has been pretty relaxed, not vulgar and the women all were very kind and professional. One party was at an all nude bar and it was a little more "sketchy" but still pretty respectable.

I think that the issue here is about drugs believe it or not. I roomed with three exotic dancers and in my experience they were pretty straight edge, no drugs and were dancing to a. save up for a down payment on a house, b. pay off student loans to get out from under that agony, c. supplement the income made from her other job (social worker) as it was simply insufficient to support her.

I have a lot of respect for dancers like this, it is their choice what they do with their bodies, and I liked the fact that they were drug free (well we puff da ganga you know, jah live and all that)... becouse, I heard first hand the horror stories of women being high on coke, xanex, lortabs you name it... these things seem to compromise ones morals. This clearly is an issue.

You don't have to be a "stripper" (exotic dancer is my preferred term) to do drugs and lose your morals. How many women/men out there are doing drugs and bending their morals to acquire more drugs (steal, cheat, sell s*x etc.).

Interesting question, but clearly it is not a "Gentleman's" job to "cover up" a woman who makes the choice to dance, s***w, do drugs, or be a great happy proud naked human celebrating the fact that there will always be pervs out there who will throw dollars at them for showing a little skin.

h**l if I were a little more cut (after getting married I kind of let the ol belly pooch, beer is after all the cause and solution to all of life's problems) I would entertain the idea of stripping myself. I could pull it off.

I dont think I answered your question but their you go... data.

  8. Good question!

What i think it comes down to is the strip joints trying to maintain at least somewhat of a clean image.

I guess they feel by referring it to as "gentleman's club", they feel like the name will maintain good public relations, as well as trying to give an altered meaning to the title gentleman.

All i know is it does indeed have something to do political correctness, and making the strip joints seem harmless in the views of the general public in some way.

  9. Probably because if you call it a dive less guys would show up.

  10. Gentleman's clubs! what are you like 80? and the word Gentleman is usually used by just one poster, so please don't generalize.

  11. Well  if they called it the Horny Goatweed Club the guys would think they could really get out of control , and it would be tough to get women to work there.

    Gentlemen assumes a certain demeanor.

And if it's gentlemen the women working there can indulge their "Pretty Women" fantasy if they want.

  12. Because that is what men were called "back in the day".  I am not sure how you think a woman who has made her own choice and is not financially dependent on someone else is "demeaned" and "insulted".

    Please explain.

  13. you know i really do not know and it is far from gentlemanly. I my self never did like those kind of things and never liked the bar thing either for that mater.

  14. A gentleman would cover her up?  It's a gentleman's job to go into strip clubs and forcibly dress women who are naked of their own volition?  Funny, I would think someone who was a true gentleman can recognize and respect boundaries and realize it's not his job to protect us wonton women from ourselves.

I've worked as a dancer, and frankly, I don't like people treating me like I couldn't possibly have been allowed to make up my own mind in regards to what I legally do with my own body.  I find it much more insulting to suggest that any strange man has a right to decide to "cover [me] up."

Anyway, a long time ago the term "gentleman's club" was coined to distinguish a certain type of strip club that was more "upscale."  The dancers are generally expected to wear gowns when walking around the floor instead of skimpier outfits, and are expected to be more done up.  Raunchier dance moves are forbidden, and the ambiance is generally a little nicer and higher quality drinks and food are served.  These days, the term is often used by all different kinds of strip clubs.

  15. Most true Gentlemen wouldn't walk into such an establishment to begin with.  It's not a Gentleman's responsibility to make .... um... women of ill-repute into respectable people.

  16. They are trying to encourage the men who enter to be gentlemen.  Yes, I I saw a woman who was running around naked, I would give her my coat.  As for the questions that start with the word "Gentlemen," I think it is fro the same reason.  They know that what they are doing is extremely far from being gentlemanly, so the have to use the term as a cover-up.  They can't very well be honest and write. "Woman hater..."

Edit:  The Mrs.  Hey, school teacher.  Can't you read the question.  She didn;t say strippers were demeaned and insulted.  She said that some of the questions on this Y/A G&WS Forum are demeaning and insulting.  No wonder you have to teach second graders and could only get a job way out in the country.  They must have been desperate for a teacher, because you are not very bright.

  17. Women choose to work in strip clubs in America. Get off your high horse.
