Each team in every sport has its allegiance of fans.  The Suns fans are excited because of the presence and experience Shaq can provide to a team loaded with talent.  Though I do like the Suns, I do not Shaq is as intimidating as he once was.  His knees do not allow him to run the court a championship caliber team needs, which is ironic because he is now running alongside one of the leagues highest scoring teams.  As you said, they may be living in a dream land, but isn't that what professional athletics are about?  Living the dream.  Fans live this dream through the team they cheer for.
