  1. It is probably the aspect ratio setting on your TV. Your TV has a 16:9 aspect ratio while most standard TV is in 4:3 aspect ratio. To make the 4:3 fill up the 16:9 screen it will cut off portions of the top and bottom so it looks correct (without stretching). There should be a button on your remote to chaange this setting. It could say aspect, picture size, or something to that effect.

  2. If you have dish there is a button at the very bottom of the remote on the left side that allows you to stretch or zoom the picture. I like to set mine at the stretch. setting Check to see if it has been bumped and it is in the zoom mode. There are two zoom settings and both of them cut off the top and bottom parts of the picture.

Also I'm sure that your plasma remote also has settings for normal, zoom, wide screen. movie or standard setting. I set my h. d. t.v at standard for regular viewing but the Movie setting when watching a DVD. You might need to experiment until you find the setting that works best for the size of your T.V.
