As I understand it, Ti leaves are wrapped around rocks and left at the craters as an offering to Pele, the Fire Goddess. My question is "Why ti leaves specifically?"

  1. The Ti are the only plant in Hawaii that don't grow on volcanic ash, so it is thought that the Goddess- Who admires the burning of life, would love to burn something that she couldn't get a hold of.
