Why are UK sizes smaller than USA sizes?

like how a size 0 in USA is a 4 or 6 in the UK

aha is it because in the USA were all fat?

    uk8-us4

    etc.etc

    though i think everyone would be happy if the wourld switched to austrailian sizing, its obviously the easiest to use and doesnt spur comments like " WTF. zero isnt even a size, wheres a 12!?!?!" whilst shopping in gap, from middle aged woman


  2. since americans are so obese they need bigger sizes, and british people know how to control their eating.

  3. You hit it right on the nail - British women are generally smaller than American women.

    The original sizing was a American Zero = UK Zero, but now it's an American Zero = UK Four.

    Hence why, if you have British friends and you tell them you're a zero, they'll be stunned =]

  4. I don't think that is the reason, they just have different sizes. Not all countries have the same size values.
