Why are Venus Fly Traps peculiar?

Please help me find out why venus fly traps are peculiar and the reasons why?!? I have a science project due soon and I need to know this!!! Thanks! })i({

  1. Because they eat flies, you'd be pecular too if you ate flies!

For me the main reason is because they are one of the few plants in the world that exhibit rapid movement.  Rapid movement is something that most people only think to be exhibited by animals.  However, the whole trapping and digesting of insects is also very peculiar.  It goes against what most people think the natural order of nature is -- animals should eat plants, not the other way around.

  4. The leaves of this plant are like a trap with margins having spines and when the insct comes inside the folded leaf, the leaf catches the insect by closing down the leaf margins. The marginal spines donot allow the insect to escape. This is the peculiarity of the insect.
