A 12 and 13 year old have been recycling hundreds of thousands of cell phones and using AT&T phone cards to provide our soldiers with free calls home. They started it b/c one soldier had run up an $8,000.00 cell phone bill calling home. I think they are doing a great thing. My question is why isn't it already provided? Shouldn't our government already have taken care of this? If a 12 and 13 year old can get it done, then surely our trillion dollar military could. Anyone have any insights or thoughts?

  1. The few the proud...the cheap...its has been shown to be...COST INIFECTIVE. Money could be spent on intel weapons health care wounded etc. :( its a sad day to know that the ulitmate sacrifice thats given...isnt given the HONOR and RESPECT it deserves.

  2. that is a VERY good question! try getting an answer from the government though...good luck

  3. If I send a care package with cake, books, jerky, etc. to my son in Iraq, does that mean the govt should provide the same to every other soldier?

It is a govt's job to provide a military.

It is the peoples' job to honor the soldiers for being in it.

No, the kids prove that private business or organizations can 'easily' do it.

The Fed. gov't would surely make it cost too much (taxes) and eventually not work well (bureaucracy).
