  1. because we are awesome like that

  2. Because a snowboard is strapped to your feet. You can jump on a snowboard just by lifting your legs, but you have to ollie to do so on a skateboard.

  3. Skate boards is the transitioning of energy of the kick down sent back up through the deck.  Hence the harder you pop, the better the height you're going to get.  A snowboard is all about acting as a spring.

I might be wrong about this, I'm pretty confused with physics.  But, when you pop down, you give the board energy.  The board then hits the ground, and the energy is sent back.  Every action has an equal and opposite reaction?  The energy is then sent back up.  A big part of height of a skateboard ollie is also the sliding your foot.  You can only slide as high as your body allows you.  This guides your board up and eventually forward.

Snowboards is just I think in a way like PSI?  The more pressure you put on the core primarily, the more it wants to return to it's original shape, popping back.   That's why boards get broken into, and eventually get worn out.

    I think I helped?

Technically, just jumping is cheating.  Not really a technical jump.  (The ollie).  And whenever I just try to jump up, I don't get very high, and I'm off balance.
