Why are all of the Star Wars fans mad about Hayden Christensen playing the role of Anakin?

I'm not really much of a Star Wars fan, but I do enjoy the action in the movie. I thought the prequels were pretty good, but it seems as though a lot of the Star Wars fans are angry about Hayden Christensen playing the role of Anakin. Why is this? Is it because he's a good looking handsome guy, since a lot of the Star Wars are dorky looking? That's my guess. I thought he did an ok job. I just don't see what the big deal is about him playing the role of Anakin.

Yeah, I though that he was a good choice for the character. Lucas wanted someone who could express different emotions and i think he did a good job. of course many of his lines were corny but that is just lucas' style. he cares more about the overall story than the interactions between characters.

It wasn't that they were "mad" about Christensen playing the role of Anakin - they were simply disappointed. Star Wars fans were used to the male lead being passionate and energetic Luke Skywalker. With the Episode II script, we're shown a very mellow and low-key Anakin Skywalker, paired with an equally un-charged Natalie Portman as Padme.

Many fans were disappointed at what came across as 'stiff' acting on Christensen's part.

Well, in my opinion, he was bland and not a good actor. He just didn't cut it for me. I only like the old ones. I cannot stnad the new ones, so it doesn't really matter to me.

dorky looking? no one was dorky looking! haden christensen did a good job, i thought. i don't see why everyone was so upset, because he was like sooo perfect at everything, especially being angry and everything and what the heck is everyone's problem with him because he rocked the part so come to terms with it!
