Democrats are embracing the term Liberal and that makes the radio talking heads crazy because they want it to be an insult, but today Republicans are saying that calling them a Moderate is "childish name calling..." Why dont Republicans like to be called "Moderates"?

  1. Purists consider it appeasement.  One step away from a liberal.  ;)

  2. Most people are moderates (from both sides).  I see nothing wrong with the word moderate.

  3. Their is a more moderate influx.  Your focusing on more on those further to the right.

  4. I have long considered myself a moderate independent....I have some pretty strong repub leanings and pretty strong dem leanings.

Just depends on the issue at hand

I have much more in common with "libertarians though, I think most do too when you get down to it.

Moderate never has and never will be a bad word in my book....IMHO it is someone who waits to see the information before making a decision, rather than making a decision and justifying with information.

  5. Because we are not. Moderates imply someone who compromises. An appeaser. An appeaser is someone who feeds an alligator hoping it will eat him last. A moderate is willing to adjust his views because Liberals make him feel guilty. No backbone in moderates.

  6. Got me.. there are plenty of moderate Republicans..

Governor Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota is a good example.
