  1. Georgia seems to be the cause of this and obviously they made a mistake.  But, is it necessary for Russia to attack this tiny poor country with such a mass of military might?  It makes Russia look very bad to me.  You say they get what's coming to them?  How many innocent people must be killed to satisfy the vengeance here?  Was Russia's response necessary?  Russia was not attacked, only provinces that would prefer to be part of Russia.  President Bush wants the bombing and killing to stop.  It looks very much like Russia is trying to occupy as they did at the end of WWII.  I'm sorry but I can't agree.  Georgia made a mistake but they should not see their country destroyed for it and many people killed.  No good can come of this.  I think it will make matters worse as other former soviet territories look to America for protection against Russia.  I hope someone in Moscow stops this and takes a step back so it can be settled in a civilized way.

  2. I too am really surprised by the media bias.  I heard the story on my local news and they really painted Russia as the bad guy.  When you listen to different news outlets, the story tends to become more rounded, more fair to both sides.

As for the US involvement -- the US, I feel, won't get too in to this -- the US is stretched far too thin as it is, and has too many people (of whom the US is indebted to financially) that they needn't irritate

  4. No, it's a cold war 2, i'm afraid. US spent to much money on supporting Saakashvili & now with elections coming up they want to make sure it wasn't a waste. I don't think Obama would not be so hysterical as his opponent is about that. & with all this propaganda guess who's getting the votes back? They should care about their own country & stop supporting such cruel & stupid ideas like killing innocent people (& russian citizens) & think Russia is still as weak as it used to be. There are a lot of things to take care of in US such as real estate crisis for example. & US still didn't clean up the mess they've made in Iraq! Why would they stick their nose in to territorial conflicts Russia successfully restrained for over 15 years?

wech tis if you think i'm wrong

  5. I think their is a major (or even 2, I don't remember) oil pipeline(s) that go through Georgia. That's part of the reason why Georgia and the US are good friends. US doesn't want more problems with getting oil considering the issues in the middle east.

Its sort of (let me emphasize sort of) like if your good friend is being bullied... so (normally) you would stand up to them.

Except in this case, it was Georgia's fault for starting this problem.

  6. Russia touched a nerve. US and Georgia seem to be very good friends and want to see Russia's downfall. Fortunately, that's not for the US to decide.
