I have been training in the Arts for a very along time, and have trained in jujitsu as well, but people seem to treat jujitsu and the end all answer to every violent senario, i feel that the most important thing I learned from jujitsu was how to move on the ground and get out of a tight spot, but as far as fighting goes Krav rocks ( my instructor is very compitient). Other pratitioners dont think so though, is it lack of knowledge you think or is the style just ineffective If you feel that Krav is ineffective please state your reason (not being a smart a$$ on this part just trying to figure this out)

  1. Krav Maga is a defensive art.   I like the few moves I know of it.  It is very comfortable and effective in real life situations.  As another answerer stated it is being used by Ground troupes in the war.

  2. Well like I've said to many other Krav Maga practitioners...."stick with Krav Maga"  Jujitsu is not the "Fail safe" art of the world.  Let people say what they will.  You just stick to what you're doing with "Krav Maga".  Any one can brag about their art and all do, but these so-called "experts" that tell you that Krav Maga is a nothing system wouldn't know how to pour pi** out of a boot with directions on the  heel.  Any art that teaches "survival" and how to create distance between you and your attackers is a good art.  You can try and stick around all day and torque arms with the techniques of Jujitsu and still be stomped.  Who says that a determined attacker will even let you get him down with a double leg reap any way?  In Krav Maga you're using both arms at the same time to strike with as to where other arts only think in the terms of counter then strike in seperate actions.  I've heard a lot of would-be arm chair quarterbacks talk up a nasty game against Krav Maga, but in all honesty they never even studied Krav Maga to know its capabilites.  I wouldn't sweat the "politics" of "My arts the best" because everyone says that without knowing the facts of the other art they're "dogging out".  They read a few articles and think they know what Krav Maga's about and in reality they don't know squat about Krav Maga so let them run their mouths becuase they know notta!!!

  3. most people train in jujitsu and krav maga because right now its a popular style.  There have been tv shows about it and a lot of people are closed minded to the style they take part in and think that it is the only effective style.  Certain situations call for different styles and techniques, such as jujitsu if you get taken down to the ground or tae kwon do for kicking and pushing your opponent away from you.  So Krav Maga can be effective but maybe not in all situations. In my opinion Krav Maga is a great style but no one style is perfect they will always have flaws and weak points.  The effectiveness also depends on your skill level, mental capabilities, and physical condition.  So it will vary with different people.  Such as some techniques in tae kwon do work for shorter people being attacked by a taller or larger opponent.

  4. I say it's probably because most people can't tell the distinction between combative sport and self defense these days, there is a big difference between the two. In combat sports the goal is to score the most points or render your opponent unable to continue either by KO or submission in order to win a prize be it trophy, medal, belt or prize money. In self defense, the goal is to survive an attack, this means that escaping with your life and limb intact is more important than your ego, whether or not you beat the c**p outta your attacker  or you run like h**l after poking him in the eye and hitting him in the family jewels is irrelevant, what's important is that you live to fight another day. Now, while Krav Maga is good for self defense situations, it doesn't translate well into competitive sports since as I understand, escape is more important than coming out on top of a slugfest, so most people tend to write it off as ineffective since one cannot win trophies and medals with it's techniques. I guess we can blame it on medias like TV and films since they tend to glorify the more aggressive aspect of the martial arts over the purely self defense aspects, afterall, pure defense doesn't make very exciting cinema. Same thing goes with sports, just look at how many people hate Floyd Mayweather for example, his defensive style of boxing, while very effective for him, allowing him to stay generally unscratched, is not a very great crowd pleaser. But then you have to decide what your goal for training is, do you train to look good and win belts and prize money or maybe the respect of your peers? Or do you train to be able to escape and survive a violent attack? As long as you know you are getting the training that you want and aim for, I say go for it and don't worry about what other people think.

  5. I'd say Krav Maga is a very street wise art although it is very much in vogue at the moment via Tv, movies and on here.

It incorporates, wrestling, boxing and some jiu-jitsu and survival street wise attitudes so yes it is a good art and I'd never put any style down that specialises in realistic street situations as my own background is in jiu-jitsu and Boxing and realistic street survival :)***

  6. Honestly, I think Krav Maga is a vastly more efficient Martial Art. It focuses on you being disadvantaged, and how to completely remove the threat.

If fighting more than 1 opponent, Juijitsu isn't going to be as good, and it ensures a fight will be on the ground, where you don't want it to take place.
