We are there as a ploy to finish off a job we didn't do back in 91. We had more than enough troops to do it, without facing Saddam's "Fedayeen" (because they weren't assembled yet) but we didn't. NOW Bush Sr. wanted revenge, botched an election just to get his son in office, and went from there.

The Project for the New American Century.

That was a group formed in the 1990's, by a who's who of Bush staff members.   They determined that the USA Superpower status was going to fade over the coming decades, and in order to maintain it, the USA needed to control the oil that China and others needed.    They also determined that invading and controlling the Middle East was the way to do it.

Most amazing of all.....these people got the power to do what they wanted.

So, we got the war in Iraq.

it sure wasn't for oil, cause the us army still pays over 4 dollars a gallon for jp8 and df2 diesel  so if it was for the war it didn't work

Where have you been in a coma for the last 5 years? We helped take a mad-man out of a position of control, now we are supplying security and training police and Iraqi troops so Iraq can take over.

Initially, it was to fight back Iraq who'd invaded Kuwait.  It SHOULD have been the job of the U.N., but they're inept.  Now we are there because the U.N. would not hold up it's end of the cease fire agreement that ended that first war.
