  1. I have never seen an American with a flag in a foreign country (with the exception of the Olympics!).  I have no problems with someone waving their flag while in America - in fact, I feel that the person is showing their love of their own country and respect them for that (and think it is cool!).  Whenever in a foreign country, I try to blend in and definitely would not wear a t-shirt with an American flag on it.....the only exception is the Olympics where I think that it is fun for all people watching to cheer for their own country and waving a flag or wearing a t-shirt is an appropriate way to show enthusiam.

  2. This isn't true... we don't nag when the Irish flag is waved on St Patty's Day... or the Mexican flag is waved on Cinco de Mayo. Maybe 'cause we're too drunk to care. LOL j/k

It's all about the context in which the flag waving is done. I certainly don't like it when someone from another country is busy telling us how "bad" we are while waving their flag in OUR country. Is the U.S. totally free of faults, NO! But we don't need foreign nationals telling us this while theyre waving their flags on our soil and enjoying the benefits of living here. They may have a right to because of our Constitution but it's rude!

And Americans don't go waving their flag around in other countries unless it's for a sporting event in which we're competing as a country. And there's nothing wrong with that because everyone else does the same thing. And I think people stopped putting American flags on the luggage tags since 9/11, maybe even before. I know my family hasn't put American flags on baggage since the 70s after all the hijackings.

  3. I have never seen an american go on vacation and bring their flag. I think when someone is going on vacation, it's not to wave a flag around, it's to enjoy their life.

And FYI, I dont even own an American flag.

  4. Dear illegal,

Don't know where you are from but I guess most of us born and raised in the USA are still proud of our country.  It is the people of our country that make it great.  I frequently travel to France and Aruba and I don't think I've ever worn a "flag" shirt; nor have I waved an American flag.  I travel to expand my knowledge of other countries, their people and their culture.  Maybe you should try that!   We are also very tolerant towards anyone that wants to wave their flag; even though they are living and working in American.  It's a little thing called freedom!

Do you know how many countries have traveled to the moon?  One; America!
