  1. Grammatical gender of words often has nothing to do with the physical gender (if any) of the thing signified.  Also, the grammatical gender of the word in these two languages would likely have little impact on an artist's work, even if the artist spoke one or both of them (and the number of prominent Greek- and/or Hebrew-speaking visual artists is relatively limited).


  2. Interesting query you pose.  Upon reflection (and I'd not considered this before)...I have (apparently) always considered angels in art as androgynous.
