Why are ants eating my shammy [Cloth used to absorb water]?

Question

Is it edible?I don't use it to absorb any liquids that humans eat/drink. I use it to wipe water from my car after washing it. Maybe the car wax tastes good?

I noticed that pieces of it seem to look like bread crumbs. Are they thinking that it is bread?

They always come back. If I wanted to keep them away I would just leave the shammy in a body of water.
