With the prices of gas, food, and other things. EVERYTHING is going up in price, and it's sad it has effected nonsense like ornaments. Try finding some more natural looking ones that are at craft shops and make sure they are safe to put in a tank. It will give your aquarium a much more natural look.

They don't look very expensive to produce so my guess is that fish shop owners mark the price of them up quite a bit to make a good profit.
