Why are aspects of magic important in mythology. What does magic bring to myths?

What many people do not know is that ancient civilizations were rule by magic.....  And I don't care who doesn't accept this fact for the truth will always remain true.............. And many ancient civilization bit the dust because they totally depended on magic and not the might of the human arm with a sword in it.......

All cultures other than christianity practice a form of folk magick.  It was just when xtianity came along and forced there ways by blood that magick was concidered evil.

To quote Arthur C. Clarke... "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

That should answer why the prevalence of "magic" in mythology and lore.
