why himmes, big blocks, V-8 ,V-10, V-12 when a 4 Cylinder engine will do the same job with less power and better saving.

  1. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out!

Because their board of directors are purposely polluted by big oil executives!

  2. They are trying to appeal to "bigger is better" part of the human psycology. Works for men especially (you know why).

It mostly works in America because the fuel is dirt cheap and there is loads of parking space.

In any other country it would be a waste of money.

Hopefully their sales would go down if people become more environmentaly consious.

I say - boycot car manufacturers who produce them, or at least send them a plea to make these cars run on environventally friendly fuel! Then it doesn't matter how big the car is!

  3. 4 cylinders don't have the power of bigger engines.  Trucks with bigger engines have more torque = a better work truck with more capabilities.

They get you from point A to point B yes but I'll take my 350Z over a Dodge Neon or Toyota Corolla every day of the week.

It's just more fun to drive.

  4. bigger profit... ( thats the only reason i can think of... ) otherwise it just wouldn`t make much sense...

  5. GREED.

  6. 1) They make more $ per vehicle on the larger ones.

    2) They are stupid and have no foresight.  The Japanese, etc. have been killing them since the first oil embargo in 1973 by producing better, more efficient vehicles but they have yet to learn that quality and efficiency are important to potential customers.

  7. The reason is that AMERICAN's WANT THEM and Auto companies could charge more for them so they could make more $$ so they  made them.

Auto companies will not build what they cannot sell.  If consumers did not want large cars, trucks and engines, they would not build them.

With high gas prices, this will change, because consumers will change and want more gas mileage.   However, it takes years to design and build a car so Detroit auto companies will be hurting for some time to come.

  8. sometimes yes, most of the time no! go with a smaller three cylinder- preferably deisel for the torque, and top speed should be highway speed. not 110-140mph, there is not one road in the us that requires engines to propel us that fast. now for transit of products for long haul they could use a smaller engine with different gearing and do fine. but some trucks need more  power to do thier job effectively.

  9. because they need to take advantage of the laxed environmental regulations while they can, before the government forces them to actually be competitive with foreign autos in regards to reduced emissions.

  10. They won't afterawhile because they aren't selling

  11. the answer is really simple but will probably escape the green crowd, but it is in simple terms so hopefully you will be able to understand. it is what the consumer wants. and since in a free market society such as we live in here in the US the consumers drives the market the market responds
