Why are biofuels good ?

i know why it isn;t a good ,but i need to know two points about why it is ?

It provides a fuel that is normally a waste for diesel engines.

1. They raise crop prices so that farmers make more money.  Since farmers feed us I think they deserve more.

2. People think that it is helping reduce global warming, so it is good from a touchy feely standpoint.

They will give us a way to help with the transistion to a cleaner electric grid and electric cars.

And solar is the best bet to have a clean electric grid.

They help lessen our dependence on foreign oil.

There are serious questions about whether they make sense ecologically or economically.

They're a renewable resource that grows back every year, and they don't inject co2 into the air that has been sequestered in the ground for millions of years.

Ethanol from corn is the exception. Leave it to gov't to locate the WORST possible means of generating ethanol and putting their clout behind that one.

Biofuels are one piece of a changing energy market. Corn ethanol should not be burned it should be a beverage. Bourbon is the best use of corn ethanol. The best things about biofuels are less environmental damage from fuel spills and they can be grown and produced in the USA so American dollars are not going to middle east countries that have such strong anti American feelings. When we buy mideast oil we are funding our enemies.

Im currently in a program at my local college studying biofuels.  There are many reasons that biofuels are important.

1.  They reduce our dependance on foregin oil

2.  They boost the local economy

3.  They give out more jobs

Ghanging food into fuel is not good when half the world is starving.
