Prior to extracting the oocytes, blood samples are taken to check if the mother tests positive to HIV, rubella and Hepatitis B. Suggest reasons why this is done early in the program?

Please help.

  1. It seems to me it's relevant to perform the tests you have mentioned. Those diseases being identified can be passed to the baby and put the success of the IVF procedure at risk. Worse, if a baby successfully conceived is carrying these diseases, then his life is also at risk.

Comprehensive tests should be preformed. We all want a perfect and healthy baby it we can help, don't we?
