  1. They are usually meant to make a statement about the owner(s) of the boat, so unless you know the people very well, the names probably seem dumb to you. I personally find boat names, like vanity tags on cars, fun to read. They're even a sort of historical record of a certain age or time period. Like I once saw a yacht (in a photo) named "Valium." Perfectly clear, perfectly understandable. And I have friends named Mike and Mary who christened their boat "M&M," painted exactly like the candy logo. Sweeeet!

  2. maybe its only the boats you socialize with? (try asking the owner of the boat, theres probably a story)

  3. Boat names are a statement from the owner of the vessel. They reflect what they may feel about certain things, so the names may sound dumb to some and have meaning to others. My 16'  Chrysler Charger SE's name is BUZZ'N, Hmmmmmmm? Happy Boating.

  4. I think there are some great ones out there.

    I have:

Gin 'n Tonka - Lake Minnetonka, get it?

    True North

Victor - classic 1947 boat in red, white, and blue named for the victory in WWII

  5. Could it be that, 'dumb' is in the mind of the beholder?

  6. There are not dumb to the owners
