  1. thanks it's people like you who change the world ; }

  2. no one can be objective. not anyone anywhere ever.  you always have your experiences that you operate from.  how can you understand or accept something you were not brought up to believe, or something you do not believe now?

  3. It's not so much ignorance as it is stubbornness and the drive to p**s others off with their opinions.  For some reason, so many people on R&S here feel compelled to "convince" everyone else of their beliefs.  And, when someone says something that pisses them off, they have to ask "why do you hate us?" like other person said something hurtful when in reality all they did was disagree.

  4. jesse, um, you obviously missed that he called you ignorant just as he did me for calling you ignorant . atleast im ignorant by the dudes claim, while you are ignorant by act

  5. Yeah, I laugh all the time. But, you have to admit, you'll occasionally see a dead on comment, massively sarcastic and condescendng from people on both sides.

It's just that their self-importance forces them to take themselves and their belifs seriously. It's just how they choose to look at things. you have obviously chosen a different filter to view things through.

  6. your rant is kinda stupid....

  7. That is so true..this will prove your point-

Ethel was a bit of a demon in her wheelchair, and loved to charge around the nursing home, taking corners on one wheel and getting up to maximum speed on the long corridors.

Because the poor woman was one sandwich short of a picnic the other residents tolerated her and some of them actually joined in.

One day Ethel was speeding up one corridor when a door opened and Kooky Clarence stepped out with his arm outstretched. "STOP!," he shouted in a firm voice. "Have you got a license for that thing?" Ethel fished around in her handbag and pulled out a Kit Kat wrapper and held it up to him. "OK" he said, and away Ethel sped down the hall.

As she took the corner near the TV lounge on one wheel, weird Harold popped out in front of her and shouted "STOP! Have you got proof of insurance?" Ethel dug into her handbag, pulled out a drink coaster and held it up to him. Harold nodded and said "On your way, Ma'am." As Ethel neared the final corridor, Crazy Craig stepped out in front of her, butt-naked, and holding his "you-know-what" in his hand.

"Oh, good grief," yelled Ethel, "Not that d**n breathalyzer test again

  8. HAHAHAHA not really funny, I've seen some of your answers and you ain't what I'd call "bright".

  9. both sides aren't stuck in ignorance.  No you are not bright nor do you have all the answers.  I would have to see an answer before I could even consider that you might have them all.  And if you did, why ask questions?

You have nothing to say and yet you wish to portray yourself as deep, most probably because it means you don't have to examine yourself too closely.  There is nothing profound in your words, there is hardly anything coherent.

This, dear friends, is a clear example of why some people shouldn't use drugs.

  10. Not me I am just in it for the fun of it and getting some points for stupid answers. Well sometimes maybe but I leave it there one day an atheist another maybe a theism.

  11. I agree that people from both sides need to stop being so closed-minded and intolerant, and not resort to using put-downs. Ridiculing one another really doesn't solve anything.

  12. lack of respect is my guess alonh with arogance ant hatred mixed with a bit of ignorance.

if you want your religious views to be respected then you must do the same to others... plain and simple! it dont matter if you call it "do unto others", karma or just plain manners!

arogance is never a good thing... 'nuff said.

hatred,,, one of the things all religions speak against.

ignorance of what other faiths actually believe... you know, just believe rumors rather than get answers from the horse's mouth.

  13. Both sides are not  stuck in ignorance, only the religion side.  Religion, by definition, is ignorant.

  14. For the same reason they attack you now for simply asking this question. Your question asks why they hate and in turn they respond with hate directed towards you.

No different from the hate that was directed towards Jesus as he was crucified. They do it because they can. It's easy and it empowers them.

  15. No.

  16. I do not think it is hilarious at all.  All the bickering back and forth about what is and what is not the truth, is part of human nature.  If everyone recognize that, I think there might be more tolerance.

Unfortunately, we do not view it that way.  We think we can change another person's point of view to agree with our own.

But that doesn't happen.   I get caught up in the evolution/creationism debate from time to time.  I am also an atheist, which bugs the day lights out of certain religious denominations.

    Mainly Christianity.

I know voicing my views is not going to make a dent in someone who's thinking has been molded and nurtured by someone with a particular bias from birth.

All I think I can do is provide seeds of doubt.

ADDENDUM:  I just read the other answers and several of them, like the person after me, are answering by making a personal attack on YOU.  That shows how ignorant they are.  Ignorance is not owned by any particular group.  But, it does seem to manifest itself in certain individuals.

Not enough people are able to see a larger picture.

  17. A lack of strong, moral leadership at the helm, an absence of spirit fortifying pastoral guidance leads to a society at loggerheads and waging war. A media profiting from the unholy battling, division and roused hatred feeds the feuding whilst distracting all from the cause of peace and liberated unity with trivia regarding hyped media fodder… h**l.

The voice of sense remains yet the heart bleeds for its pain at the hands of these malicious jackals and the pawns of h**l preying upon the faith and goodness of humanity and innocents.

    Ayatollah Hitler.

  18. Not really funny.

What is funny is <insertinflammatorycommenthere> because they are so <rationalisationhere> I mean what the <insertprofanityhere>.

  19. religious views generate ignorance in my book

  20. Actually it would be ignorant to never debate about it and it would be inhuman to never get upset or never insult etc.

Religion is a big factor in everyone's life. I say it's a bad factor and I know I'm right and I'm not stopping for the sake of some useless cultural rule.

I try to be nice, but I'm better off posting an unthoughtful Q or A than going nuts for months to come.

  21. HAHA....

I work as a research scientist in the field of geology, and have interests in quantum physics and philosophy. I went to a Christian school, have read the Bible out of 'interest', as well as looking into many other religions.

    and you know what....?

I still think Christianity is a load of sh*t

HAHAHA you crazy fricken moron. You bring shame upon us wolves.

ED: No I claim to be smarter because I decide to look at EVERY side of the arguement b4 I make a decision, you on the other hand don't seem to care about the facts before makeing stupid statements and frankly I think you should actually be on some sort of medication

ED2: "I dont need your silly facts" - this is actually my whole point. I am not an atheist actually. I have no doubt that Jesus actually existed and was a very enlightened teacher, but so was Buddha, Ghandi, the present Dalai Lama. Jesus was rebelling against orgaised religion based on guilt with stupid rules, but 2000 years later his word has become the very thing he opposed. But science and spirituality can go together. God gave you a brain, why don't you use it...?

ED3: but yet you don't care about the facts, wasn't your original question "Why are both sides stuck in ignorance"?

    ED4: If you Christains

    a) knew more about the science of evolution and the universe, and

    b) Knew more about the origins of your own Bible - how it was put together by people with an agenda, why certain parts were included and what was said in the parts that were left out e.g. The gospel of Thomas and the gospel of Mary Magdelen just to name a few, you would see that it can only ever be taken symbollicly.

And if you did this, maybe you wouldn't look like such idiots.

You would also see that the Bible, when taken symbolicly actually fits very nicely in with such theories as evolution and the big bang.

And I'm all for getting along, with informed reasonable people that is.

ED:5 Its only 5:30 in Australia....

Sorry about the moron crack, that could be a bit much. I actually like you after all that, especially now you've explained your reasoning.... I'm not against faith however, just people imposing stupid rules and guilt trips on themselves and others just because of their misintepretation of the words of a very enlightened man who lived 2000 years ago.

    Good night
