  1. because the gas is more expensive

  2. 2 possible reasons;

    -rising gas prices means it costs more to run the buses

    -the transit company wants to steal from people who have to take the bus

  3. In central California the busses are government owned and subsidized by the taxpayers. The riders pay about 25% of the costs of operating the system. The price of a ride generally does not go up with fuel prices because the fuel tax is a percentage of the fuel cost. The price of fuel goes up, the amount of taxes the rest of the motorists pays goes up also!

    The price of the bus system goes up also because the emissions standards are raised from time to time. Operators of Diesel equipment are required to install upgraded emission controls at this time, further complicating the system.

    If you want exact details of costs you will have to consult many venues. The newspapers are generally sensationalist and you get really stupid and simplistic wisecracks from stupid people who dress well and look good on Telly or sound good on the airwaves.

    Just as in every product in the world, one is awestruck by how expensive a service or product is  ~~~  Until you see how that product is made or provided   ~~~~  Then one wonders how the item can be so "cheap"!

  4. Lots of reasons, fuel is only one of them.  Liability insurance in this day and age of lawsuits, the cost of a bus in the first place which takes forever for a company to get back, employee pay and benefits, not just drivers, because drivers make up only half of a company's employees....everything adds up.  Also consider everytime one of your fellow commuters makes a mess or throws garbage in the toilet of the bus it costs everyone else money. Mean commuters takes its toll too.  Companys can't keep drivers, so the price goes up.  The question should be why is a bus ride so cheap?

  5. Because the price of Gas and Diesel keeps going up, they have to get their money back somehow.

  6. Because the gas to run those buses has gone way up...

  7. well where i live the buses run on natural gas so it wouldn't be the price of gas so i have no idea maybe their getting cheap
