the question for the essay/report is:

why are bushfires the greatest threat to australian federation?

I don't think they would be. The Federation was when the states combined together to create the country Australia is today with a federal government.

Bushfire's are threatening to the Australian way of life due to their destructive power and the speed they can travel.
