  1. cause in the 80s many people died because of them

  2. i know they're illegal in pa.

  3. Political Control. Fear, Behave yourself. The policy makers want us to work hard, pay taxes, support the unemployeed and please...don't enjoy your freedom. After all we are all stupid people who want to kill. ?? Right??

Unfortuneately the idiots who use these knives for bad things have seen to it that nobody can enjoy the novelty of such a wonderful machine.

Remember grade school when little Billy caused trouble so we all had to stay after school..... Funny huh.

  4. Gang violence in the 60', 70's... etc.

The Code you seek is in the links.

    Just an example...

"For the purposes of this section, "switchblade knife" means a

knife having the appearance of a pocketknife and includes a

spring-blade knife, snap-blade knife, gravity knife or any other

similar type knife, the blade or blades of which are two or more

inches in length and which can be released automatically by a flick

of a button, pressure on the handle, flip of the wrist or other

mechanical device, or is released by the weight of the blade or by

any type of mechanism whatsoever.  "Switchblade knife" does not

include a knife that opens with one hand utilizing thumb pressure

applied solely to the blade of the knife or a thumb stud attached to

the blade, provided that the knife has a detent or other mechanism

that provides resistance that must be overcome in opening the blade,

or that biases the blade back toward its closed position."

  5. Shortly after my 18th birthday I got stopped.  And I had a butterfly knife on me.  They cuffed me and took me to jail.  Possession of a prohibited weapon was the charge. I asked the arresting officer why it was illegal.  He told me because they are self propelled weapons.  You can legally own them as long as they are in the original case.  As in a display case or box for collectors.  By the way, this was in Dallas, TX

And as far as switch blades being activated and going all the way into a person, unlikely.  I'm not saying you wont get poked or even a small break in the skin.  But the full length of the blade will not enter you!

  6. Because you can put it

    up against someones body

and press the button on a

    switchblade and it would go

    thru them.

  7. It can kill someone cant it?

  8. Any weapons that can be concealed are considered illegal. That includes nanchakus and throwing stars. Why? Because anyone who would want to conceal a weapon would probably want to hurt someone without being caught. Any blades that exceed a given length are also considered illegal to be carried around in public.

  9. lol I'm with the 1st answer. Because they kill people.

  10. Because even though some people can find them not very harmful, in reality they are extremely dangerous. The people with the blades can harm/kill people.

  11. The Switchblade Act of 1958 will answer your questions. See the link below. As for all you posers who think you know of what you speak  . . . realize that knives and guns do not kill people . . . I can't remember the last time, if ever, I seen one jump up off the table and stab or shoot someone . . . . people kill people. You can't go banning automobiles because one person got pissed and ran another person over. Likewise, when do we ban trees, because people are able to make clubs and baseball bats out of them. Oh,and rocks . . . when are we gonna get around to breaking all the big rocks into little rock so they cant be used as weapons . . . I think I made my point. Oh wait, I just wanted to add that eddie and just askin are idiots because no switchblade possesses that much force

  12. don't know where it says they are illegal. but swith blades are illegal because they can be hidden to easily. someone could walk up to your back and hit the swith and the blade goes straight into you. no sudden movements so its hard to see.

  13. they are dangerous.

  14. the blade is longer than 2 inches, meaning that you can kill someone.

  15. Utah, the land of weapons.

  16. That would depend on the length of the blades, If i remember, longer than 3 inches is illegal because it's considered a firearm. Plus you haven't seen any butterflys or switchblades shorter than 3 inches right?
