The above question is dealing with a lab we had to do in science, and I cannot figure out the answer to this one.

  1. Because the carbonic acid is very weak and produces CO2 (gas).

    2HCl  +  CaCO3  Ã¢Â–ºâ–ºâ–º CaCl2  +   CO2  +  H2O


  2. Because they are alkali and therefore counteract excess stomach acid which causes indigestion
