i currently live in houston,tx. im relocating to the beautiful city of adelaide, australia this summer along with my family. So i was looking at prices of some cars and was surprised of how cheap they were. i mean, i was looking at this website called gumtree.com for adelaide and i saw cars like a Volvo S60 2006 that only costs 7000 aud. in america this costs atleast 1500 usd. i also a NISSAN PATROL ST GUIII 2003 at 8,900 aud in adelaide which is really ***** cheap. in america this car costs no less than 25,000 usd. are these prices legit and if so why are they so cheap?

  1. I think those ads are probably scams.  A 2006 Volvo S60 should be around $40000 or more.  Look in www.carsales.com.au for more realistic pricing.

Also I just noticed that ad for the S60 has pictures of a left hand drive car so it wouldn't be able to be registered in Australia even if it was real.

  2. Those prices do look dodgy. A 2006 Volvo at $7000 must have some really major problems as the same car new would be over $40k and that's a h**l of a lot of depreciation in only 2 years. Same for the Nissan Patrol. A new Patrol will set you back over $50k and a used 2003 model should still be over $25k unless it's full of rust or otherwise falling to bits.

  3. I found that too, I've been going to Oz for 9yrs, and car's are cheap. I was last in Adelaide 2yrs ago.

I bought a motorhome in NSW, that cost 20,000dollars, if I'd bought the same one here in the Uk it would have cost twice that amount.
