Why are cats always portrayed as evil?

I mean look at:

Tom from 'Tom and Jerry' he is always getting beaten up by a mouse.

'All Dogs Go To Heaven' well the title show that dogs go to Heaven and the devil is the cat.

'Curiosity Kills The Cat' I mean why the cat?

'Syvister And Twity' can't spell their names lol but Syvister always get's beaten up the the little bird.

'*Instert band's name here* the singer sounds like a strangeled cat. I mean why not a dog?

Cats, you either love em' or hate em'.

Personally, I've only known one good cat. I attribute that to the fact that he was raised and nursed by a dog. He is a sweety Petey though.

The last cat we had would come up to you and stick his paw on y our leg and slowly sink his claws in. He bit a lot too for no reason, and once my husband woke up with claw marks down his arm.

He also would attack our lhasa apso, who was born with only one eye, and try to claw her face.

Yeah, he went. We would have had kitty stew if he managed to claw her only eye out.

in my experience anyone who says cats are evil have never owned a cat or been around one long enough to really know what their like.they get such a bad deal and their so beautiful,so lay off cat haters!

i know that in hundreds of years ago, people though black cats where witches. So that where the saying comes about if the black cat crosses your path etc

So maybe that could have caused it

Also some people think cats as pest as some eat birds and can hurt you.

But not all cats eat birds and cats only hurt you if you hurt them, they only do it as protection.

I'm a cat-0wner-and-lover, but cats really know how to show their emotions. They get ticked off much easier than dogs as well, which is part of it. If you flick a do on the nose (just saying..) it'll probably just sit there with it's head turned sideways wondering why the heck you did it, still laying there. If you flick a cat on the nose, withing a split second you'd have 20 claws and 20-some odd teeth in your arm.

Cats imply are just more aggressive than dogs, in  my opinion. A normal household dog won't got straight off and bite you, dogs are more behaved than that. But a cat would... even if you're just petting it.

Also a small amount of cats being portrayed as evil is due to superstition. AKA WAlking across the path of a Black Cat.

That's my guess(-es).

Cats have always been mysterious creatures, independent and inscrutable, at least to people who don't know cats very well. People are always suspicious and sometimes afraid of what they don't understand. There are cat heroes too, watch Disney's Aristocats, there is a good cat in 101 Dalmatians and right now cat heroes are all the rage in novels. Oh and by the way when the say "more than one way to skin a cat" they are talking about catfish!
