  1. Alcoholism/drug addiction affects all segments of society equally.  Same with mental health problems and illnesses.  Don't confuse material wealth with having a strong ego and sense of self.  There are plenty of moms with kids who end up in rehab, the media just doesn't plaster their faces all over the news so you don't know about them.  Being spoiled doesn't cause stress.  Being under an international microscope without an incredibly strong foundation of who you are with the ability to not care what others think of you does.  Maybe if you stopped considering them icons and being envious of the money you could start seeing these people as just people subject to the human condition like the rest of us.

  2. The single mum with 3 kids can't afford rehab

let alone have the cash for to develop a coke habit in the first place.

  3. Trouble is, few of us are psychologically prepared for the way society treats celebs.  Be one a guy or a gal, once one is a celeb, one can have anything one desires.  That's almost impossible to resist.  Think about it: more money than you can possibly use, illicit drugs any time you want 'em and s*x with the most attractive members of the opposite s*x any time it pleases you and no consequences.  Servants to do all the drudge work of daily life, like cooking for you, doing your laundry and ironing, cleaning your house, and the chance to rub elbows with other high and mighty dudes and dudettes like John Edwards, Madonna and Prince Charles...could you resist such temptation?  Bet'cha you'd find it damned hard...

  4. I think it's because the money pours in while they can sit and not do much of anything. They can indulge their addictions all they like. Single moms don't have the time or financial wherewithal to sit around and smoke crack or drink; they're too busy trying to make a living and getting the kids off to school.

  5. It's probably because celebs have to deal with being bombarded by fans and paparazzis on a regular basis.  Depending on how famous they are, they can't even do their grocery shopping without people mobbing them for an autograph.  This can cause a great deal of stress because so much pressure is put on them and if they can't find a way to deal with it like hiring a body guard, they can eventually turn to self-destructive behavior.  This sort of thing happened to American Idol runner up Clay Aiken; he got all he wanted, but wasn't exactly planning on getting attention to such a great magnitude.  While dealing with being in the spotlight, there was lots of speculations that he was g*y, along with long winded battles with RCA record company for his "Measure of a Man" album.  He eventually developed panic disorder, had severe mental breakdowns, and had to be put on Paxil.  This was a couple years back, I'm not sure what the status on him is now.  All I know is that he's gonna be a dad.

  6. You're not looking outside the confines of your own experience.

    Money can't buy happiness, remember?

Celebrities are hounded day and night by people with cameras. They work 16 hour days. They are surrounded by people who care more about their money than them. They have constant temptation and access to all sorts of destructive habits.

And of course, celebrities are no less likely than anyone else to experience mental disorders. They're people too.

Why don't you try opening up your perspective a bit?

  7. if you are a single mom i praise you and with three jobs. that is a huge turn on. itsingle mother of one witha   job is a huge turn on.celebrities are just a bunch of ordinary people who dont s--t except have a bunch of camereas follow them around for what making a movie, being on a tv show. shows why people act the way they act. to have their 15 seconds of fame
