Of course there are exceptions but from experience, only 2 out of 15 chinese I know are not brand conscious, pretentious and too worried about what others say.

  1. Actually, a better question might be: Why are PEOPLE pretentious?

  2. Ugh..

There are alot of pretentious people out there in general eh?

But I guess I can see where you're coming from (in a rude way).

I mean some Chinese people (or you really narrowing it down to Chinese or just Asians in general.. ok let's stick with Chinese people) are very frugal with their money (especially immigrants... and like alot of non-Asians).

Wealth to them is the money in the bank account, not what material wealth they wear, live in, or drive.. or travel to, whatever.

Chinese people... yes, many of them are like other non-Asians who go into debt just so they can look good image-wise, but come on, you don't see alot of homeless Asians in North America right.

So they stress on education, careers, money.......

They get sucked in the vortex of image.. I mean once you have money you're looked down upon if your tastes in brands etc get an upgrade? I think that's actually wrong.

I think they're few people who are like, "wow, I'm going to buy this name branded pair of jeans, but I don't care who looks at my *** to see what brand it is"

Most people are pretentious to me - the whole fake societal masks.

Many Chinese people just have the money to be able to flaunt it =D

  3. I don't know but looking around the planet I doubt whether they come close to beating some of the groups out there.

  4. I had encountered several Chinese people at work & they all have one common thing: PERFECTIONIST. that's why they act like that.
