im scared of clowns to  ever since i saw that movie the IT that was the scariest shxx ive ever seen so im not good with any kind of clowns i hate them for life and plus i still believe that all clowns are child predator's.

One of the reason is they are the trickster god they make you look at things in your life in a new way.  They are transformed by costume and makeup into something different than the normal.  They tap into our collective memory of all that is unknown and historically they created madness in the lives of the tribes.  Now many can find them funny and that is encouraged but in ancient times they were supposed to scare you and often do to young children that are much more connected to the collective unconscious. Laughter is a often seen as an outlet for stress, so in this way we "laugh off" our fear.  Blessed be.

I agree with sky flying.

The fact that a clown is a person who is soo coverd with makeup that we can't see what he looks like or judge if we would like them if given the chance. Think about horror movies. Jason, Holloween and freddy. Their face is coverd.

We judge people by their facial charictoristics. By covering them up or hiding them. We don't have any idea who they are or what they really look like.

We don't know their ethnicity, religon, race or any other facial factor that lets us feel comfortable with a stranger. A stranger is who this comedian of slapstic and baloon animal sculptrures are.

The reason why they are scary is because their faces are covered up in thick opague make up.

A cruel evil person can easily be transformed into a friendly innocent looking person instantly with clown make up.

It's almost like a wolf in sheepskin.
