Why are coins stamped and not cast?

with respect to calorimetry ......pls help.........

  1. From a calorimetry point of view, clearly stamping would use much much less energy, since the creation of the alloy is seldom linked with a casting process; that is, after being 'mixed', the alloy would have to be remelted for the casting.

    but besides that, .casting is a slow, difficult to make perfect, one-at-a-time process. Stamping can be done in huge plates where hundreds or even thousands of coins can be pressed at once, and it tends to produce higher quality images.
