  1. Every season since 2008 by the end of round 15 every team has played each other once. Then from rounds 16 - 22 the first 7 rounds are played again (but they swap which team is home).

The AFL have done things differently in this year's fixture. It's mainly because they want more flexibility. For example instead of Sydney and Collingwood playing just once on a traditional split round they play again in round 21.

The reason Collingwood and Carlton are playing each other twice is because they round 12 is heritage round so they want them to play each other then. There is no particular reason why they are playing each other in round 4 though.

So now the AFL can play whatever teams they want whenever.

  2. it generates more money for the AFL and the clubs...

you going to get more people at 2 games of blues/carlton than 3 interstate games put together...

  3. the AFL is doing a new system this year.....its not a requirement to play the 15 teams before playing other teams

its a new sytem so more team requests can be filled.....which means more money for the AFL.

  4. wow that is weird maybe a sceduling stuff up i dont know

  5. Each team plays some teams once and some teams twice, just the luck of the draw.

    p.s Go SAINTS!

  6. yeah its a werid set up

  7. Coz they dislike each other so much, they can't wait 14 rounds! Ha ha ha!  Nah not really.  I don't know.  Probably money.  That's what most decisions are based on nowadays.

  8. The draw sucks.  Get rid of the pre-season "Clayton's"cup and play each other twice I say.

  9. the AFL going for ratings with these sides actually having a long history behind them (thus following) theu want decent ratings through the middle of the season (face it september and the first month (not preseason)are the most watched
