For example: Jamie McMurray breaking his contract with Ganassi to go to Roush. Kurt Busch breaking his contract to

go to Penske and now Stewart breaking his contract with Gibbs to be part owner of Haas.

  1. Money, plain and simple.

  2. Money, and I'm sure a lot of it passes between hands for one driver to break his contract to go somewhere else.

  3. Money talks; B.S. walks.

  4. nascar is competitive if ur not winning you leave and start over

  5. No one wants a disgruntled / crybaby driver employed with their team. Just imagine being employed somewhere and the guy is leaving next year. Who wants that?

  6. "Escape" clauses. I'm sure most contracts these days have them.

  7. Most contracts have a buyout clause...which I believe is the case with Tony.  He'll pay his "buyout" amount to Gibbs and be on his way...thank goodness.

  8. NASCAR drivers like to go fast. Both literally and physically.

  9. Owners fire drivers that are under contract all the time.  I just think the drivers nowdays are going with the best deal available to them and aren't too worried about if they still have a contract or not.  I can't say that I blame them.
