Why are convent/ christian schools are considered elite

In mumbai, to get admission in school is as difficult as getting a seat in IIT . The curriculum in all schools is same. Why do people attach so much importance to these schools

  1. For the high fees that they charge,they are able to engage quality teachers and  also ensure personal attention.The student/teacher ratio is something the other run of the mill schools cannot compete with.

    Extra-curricular activities are also not neglected.All in all

    these schools turn out students who are allrounders

    with self-confidence to tackle the hard life ahead with

    aplomb.Students of these schools do not learn by rote

    but with application.


  2. because they are private and cost a lot of money.  Its not what you know its who you know, at least most of the time.  

  3. 1. Their stress on English Speaking is appreciated by the public as speaking English is considered "upmarket"

    2. They are not as commercialized as some "public" schools

    3. As mentioned above their stress on All around development as opposed to pure marks produces well rounded personalities

    4. Our colonial hangup! No wonder such a host of "st. ... " schools are doing well inspite of no church/christian affiliation.
