Question:

Why are cricket commentators/ administrators so against globalization?

Why does it seem that every time people mention trying to spread cricket globally, many administrators and commentators seem to go on about how it's a waste of time/ money, and that cricket is always destined to be a "minority sport".

I find it annoying. Anyone else?

  1. Spreading Cricket globally and spreading 20/20 cricket globally are two different things.

20/20 might stand a chance in the US or China , but real cricket would never catch on there.

  2. Maybe it is because test cricket is played over 5 days. If you really think about it, this is very strange. I love cricket, but I know that people who haven't grown up to it (like Americans) cannot fathom a game that takes 5 days.

Even Odis are too long. I do, however, think that with the advent of T20s there is a hope for cricket

  3. they know very well, it is going to be a futile effort, we will all lose charm of cricket , can you play cricket like a swimming competition, its not possible, too many teams are not possible in cricket. The main point is to retain the real test cricket , in case of T-20 cricket , okay may be possible but in test cricket , cricket is the only game, where size and power only doesn't only matters, it needs application, technique and skill, its not like power hockey , if that was the case sachin and sunny would not have scored 10000 runs!

    best wishes!

  4. Yes you are right.Cricket should get globalized. Many countries should play cricket.Soccer is played by many countries and so it is no.1 soprt in world. As for mask,Too many countries will not spoil cricket,It will spoil India's chances in cricket.Like field hockey developed all over the world,Indian hockey just could not resist it and went on decline. Many Indians think that If US,Japan And China develop themselves in cricket,India will not be able to qualify for World Cup,leave alone win it as our cricketing culture is based on money and not performance.
