  1. ya all above .

because all mostly the same answers

  2. because it is harder to plant crops in zig zags

and then the farmer can walk between plants w/o stepping on any of them

it also makes harvesting easier. it started before there was machinery for farming and it never died out(w/o= with out)

  3. So its easrier for the machiene to harvest them

  4. it helps when they are being harvested by machinary..

  5. 1. it is the most efficient way of spacing them

    2. the roots need room to grow, so if they were planted really close together, the crops would be competing against each other too much and would not survive.

    3. for corn, beans, etc, a combine is designed to harvest in rows. the corn has to go in between the cornhead snouts, and if you get off, it will just mash down the corn stalks and you will drive over them instead of collecting the kernals.

    4. in experimental plots, they can just mark the end of the row so they don't have any doubts about what variety is what

    5. Planters plant in rows, and it is important the seeds are planted consistently.  Otherwise you might end up with areas where the crop is too close together, and areas where there is hardly any.

  6. its easier to harvest  them but it also saves room for more crops

  7. Because if you plant them in circles the aliens will come.

  8. Crops are planted in rows to achieve optimal plant spacing and therefore the best yield per plant. It also faciliates the ability to get machinery into the field without running over the plants.

  9. so they can be picked!in a row!!!

  10. it is easier to cultivate, irrigate, harvest, and in general just handle the crop.

  11. easier for harvesting, watering and any other else, looks neat and also avoid crops competition for nutrients.

  12. to make machines have the facility to work properly

  13. In an effort to control a thing, humans look to give an order and balance to a disorder (chaos) so we use rows frequently, especially in agriculture (you find rows in everything from math to art). The row is the signature of our labor, our hand, and separates us from random events. There is a neatness, and an easiness to the rows that limits the expense of energy for a maximum result. Also, we know that a species of plant needs certain space to do best, minimizing disease and pest while maximizing returns. The ideas combine into one and we have the row crop. Now we will design the machine to replace us and by the nature of machines, which are easier to build for non-chaos systems, we reduce our personal investment of energy for a greater maximum return. Humans want the most for the least effort.

  14. If they were just randomly strewn about, it would be hard to keep track of which ones have been watered. It also makes it a TON easier to collect the crop at the end of the season, and makes crop runoff a little more manageable.
