it's not a minority - you all cycle on pavements, go through red lights, pass on the inside and generally act like untaxed, ininsured, tofu eating tossers

your attitude is awful

  1. It reflects car drivers who run red lights, park on pavements /yellow lines undertake on the motorway and whilst answering their mobile and eating pies,,,yeah so whats new,,a drink drver who kills can expect a few points on the license in some cases,,,

  2. Some can be vile - I agree.

I was watching a video on youtube showing a moving protest. Bicyclists were riding slowly down the road, completely blocking cars from passing. Eventually one of the cyclists stopped to argue with someone in a car, the driver ran over his foot. Then when the guy got mad and jumped off, he rode the car right over his bicycle.

I really didn't feel sympathy at all for the bicyclist. He ran like a madman after the car as it sped off. He was extremely ticked off... hilarious.

They think that because they are so obviously vulnerable, that they are somehow invincible on the road. A dangerous mindset.

  3. That man is despicable but CYCLISTS are not. I should imagine the ratio of people who have died car v bikes due to irresponsible behaviour would be in the region of 500: 1.

  4. Why are cyclists allowed to break the laws of England.  Riding a bicycle on the pavement here in England is illegal - a traffic officence at least.

Howcome a man on a bicycle is allowed to kill a young girl aged 17 - not be charged with manslaughter at the very least and get away with something like a £2,000 fine?

There is even video evidence of the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, breaking traffic rules and ride through a red light.  A few days ago while going across a pededestrian crossing at Trafalgar Square a cyclist whizzed past me through a red light.  I shouted at him, "red light", all I got was the usual two finger salute.  Where are the police when you need them?

I want the rules tightened up so that any cyclists riding on pavements or restricted areas, get an on the spot fine of not less than £50 and cyclists who go through red lights must report to the police station and stay there for at last one hour while learning the highway code.

THIS MAY BE THE REASON WHY CYCLISTS GET AWAY WITH BREAKING THE LAW - OUR POLITICAL LEADERS THINK IT'S OKAY TO BREAK THE LAW WHILE CYCLING, SO I'M WONDERING JUST HOW MANY OTHER LAWS THEY BREAK WITHOUT GIVING IT A SECOND THOUGHT?

Why don't the fuzz make an example of one or all of these people?  They think what they're doing does not matter, but it does.  It tells us that they don't care about the law and their attitude then slithers on down so that eventually it becomes okay to just kill someone with your bicycle.  It's already happening and they wonder why and what is the cause.

  5. it's a terrible thing that happened, but you cant tar all cyclists with that brush, if you want to play that game, all drivers are unskilled grouchy drink driving boy racer types who mow down cyclists and pedestrians indiscriminately.......... sounds stupid doesn't it.

i occasionally cycle on the pavement, but only through certain sections of central London, where i genuinely fear for my life! (bendy buses, and black cabs!)

but i have never gone faster than jogging speed.

if you are completely reckless  you should face the music, but common sense and latitude should be in use.

  6. with all due respect not all cyclists are bad. I myself cycle i follow all the rules and ride at a reasonable pace. I get subjected to abuse by some drivers who tell me to get on the f ucking pavement. Which I wont do because of course it is illegal.

At the end of the day there are some bad cyclists and some bad drivers. Tarring everyone with the same brush is unfair.

  7. wow thats really sad

  8. brilliant at last someone who said exactly what i have thought for a very long time. Congrats and to h**l with the thumbs down. I have lost count of the times i have been run into, nearly run over, sworn at, and given the two fingered salute on pedestrian crossing as well as the pavement. That  our road outside is like a rat run, that no cyclist ever adheres to the traffic signals, red means stop, not go for broke. I have been a cyclist, and a good one, but i obeyed the rules of the road, for my safety as well as of everyone else.

Motorists are bad sometimes i grant you, but rarely do they mount pavements to mow down the nearest person who perhaps doesn't move fast. And they should not at any time cycle on a pavement, its for pedestrians.

    Clive

They get away with it because they have a huge voice, think of them as eco warriors, doing good by cycling instead of clogging up the roads with dirty cars. Our local paper always has some cyclist banging on about their rights and often as not its a councillor, or someone in government, and as to both Boris Johnson and David Cameron breaking the laws, they should have got a hefty fine both.

  9. cyclists always get away with anything, because they are being enviromentally friendly, and also its always usually a car drivers fault.

they dont have any rules in uk on cyclists and i think they should. they go through red lights, and when they get hit by a car its the drivers fault

makes me angry. cyclists are much to blame

also when i see cyclists without helmets on a busy roads, i just think its awful. what if they get hit, what the risk of getting head injuries?

i seen many cyclists without lights, helmets. and they use the pavements and expect the people to move for them.

i even seen some use the pavements instead os cyclist route thats are placed on side of the pavements.

in brighton their are many cyclists section on most roads, and i hardly ever seen them getting used by cyclists.

lol tofu eaters! lmao ha ha ha haha

  10. Respect and much peace to you friend.

I drive a car and cycle, but you must remember, that a cyclist is very vulnerable and easily knocked down by cars. There are many that cycle and don't obey the rules I agree, but not all of them! And with the price of fuel going through the roof, and no sign of it coming down soon, I believe that we will see a rising tide of cyclists and even use of the horse on the increase as well when people look at alternative forms of transport, many of them are car drivers and would have paid their road tax and insurance.

We are a crowded world, and we must try to be more tolerant of each other, the cyclist must also be more tolerant and respectful of motorists too.

  11. That is awful, the poor girl and her family!

The fine is just an extra slap in the face for the poor girls loved ones. I bet the cyclist is thinking it was his lucky day!

I will say though, that not all cyclist are villians. For every bad cyclist-there is probably and equally bad, nasty, ignorant car driver.

I also have a grudge against the old folk who use those little electric buggys/cars/scooters! My 3-year-old daughter and I have been hit several times by the blue rinse brigade. Car drivers have to pass a test-hold a valid liscense, have our vehicle taxed and insured, yet the wrinklies can go into a motabilty shop, buy one of these, and drive anywhere they fancy...without being tested. I saw one the other day, driving like a mad man, then get out of his vehicle....with a white stick in his hand!

  12. ONE cyclist behaves like a total d!ck and now all cyclists are vile? Thats a bit harsh.

All road users should be more respectful to each other. End of.

As for his 'punishment'- its pathetic. Her parents must be devastated.

  13. Not only that, if you hit them it's ALWAYS YOUR fault! They get in front and pedal sooo slooow you almost miss the light.

  14. I agree that the judgement mae against this man seems very linient.

However as a cyclist it think your attitude towards law abiding cyclists is apauling.

I cycle as part of my sport and dread the abuse recieved from indivduals like you.  I hope people dont throw coins at you while travelling at 30 mph.

  15. Why should I have to navigate my baby in her pram round speeding cyclists on the pavement. Footpaths are for pedestrians!

  16. If i run someone down in my car, I can expect to go to jail, but if I did it on a bike I would just get a poxy fine.

  17. Unlike car drivers who ALWAYS stop at red lights, NEVER pass on the wrong side, NEVER block cycle lanes, NEVER open their door without checking for approaching bikes and NEVER, EVER scream obscenities at bikes that pass too close to their precious tin can on wheels.

  18. I agree.  There is a sizeable proporton exactly like that.  The government should produce a ad campaign highlighting what good cycling is - riding on pavements and up the wrong way of one way streets and through red lights is not on.

In London some family were up in arms about a bloke dying because he tried to overtake on the left a concrete lorry which was turning left and went under the wheels ......... HE SHOULDN'T HAVE CUT UP A LORRY!!!!!!
